Child sexual exploitation, specifically grooming gangs, is suddenly in the media again. Be assured, my focus has remained on getting support for the victims and survivors, preventing the crime and securing convictions. I will be pushing the Government hard to implement the 20 recommendations from the Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse (IICSA) which seeks to prevent all forms of child abuse – not just gangs. I know there are calls for another national inquiry. IICSA was just that; it lasted 7 years, cost £186 million and took testimonies from thousands of victims and survivors. I don’t want to wait another decade to find out what we already know. I want the resources spent on stopping this horrendous crime. | Sarah Champion
